SPRINGVILLE — The longtime face of the Orem Police Department has been named as the new police chief for Springville.
Springville city officials announced Wednesday that Orem Police Capt. Craig Martinez's appointment as Springville police chief by Mayor Rick Child was approved by the Springville City Council. Martinez will be sworn in on June 4.
Martinez grew up in Spanish Fork. He has served in the Marine Corps and has been with the Orem Police Department for the past 16 years, acting as the public information officer for the past several years.
Martinez will replace Scott Finlayson, who announced his retirement last week after 23 years as director of public safety and chief of police for Springville, and 40 years of law enforcement service. Finlayson will step down as Springville's longest-serving police chief.
