SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The San Jose Sharks hope to have captain Joe Pavelski back tonight for their second Game 7 of the 2019 postseason. Pavelski went down with a bloody head injury that helped spark an epic comeback in Game 7 of their first-round matchup against Vegas. The Sharks are back in the same situation this round against Colorado. The winner of tonight's game in San Jose advances to play the St. Louis Blues, who beat the Dallas Stars 2-1 in double-overtime last night in Game 7 of their second-round series.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Bucks have a chance to close out Boston tonight in Milwaukee. They go into Game 5 on a three-game winning streak after losing to the Celtics in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH'-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON'-poh) has averaged 33 points per game in those three victories.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Western Conference semifinal between Golden State and Houston moves to Oakland tonight, tied 2-2. The Rockets evened the series Monday night in Houston. The Warriors' Stephen (STEH'-fen) Curry and Klay Thompson will be looking to regain their shooting touch at home. They combined to shoot 9 of 35 on 3-pointers and 30 of 79 overall the past two games.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Right-hander Sonny Gray starts for the Reds tonight in his first apperance at the Oakland Coliseum since 2017. The former A's ace won 44 games during 4 ½ seasons in the majors with Oakland before being traded to the New York Yankees. Oakland counters with left-hander Brett Anderson, who has a hard act to follow. Last night Oakland's Mike Fiers (FY'-urz) became the 35th pitcher in major league history to throw at least two no-hitters, tossing the latest in last night's 2-0 shutout of the Reds.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Phillies chairman David Montgomery has died after a five-year fight with cancer. He was 72. Montgomery spent nearly 50 years working for the Phillies, starting in the ticket office in 1971. He was promoted to executive vice president after the 1981 season, became chief operating officer in 1992 and remained in that position until being promoted to general partner, president and chief executive officer in 1997. Montgomery was team president during Philadelphia's 2008 World Series championship season.
