UPDATE: Police arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the shooting at his home later on Saturday evening, according to Salt Lake police Detective Jeff Perea. The teen was not identified. Perea did not say if the teen had any criminal history, but said that gang detectives helped look for him.

SALT LAKE CITY — An argument between two teenage boys ended with a shooting that sent one boy to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds while police search for the suspected shooter. About 8 p.m., police were summoned to a Rose Park neighborhood where they found a teen in need of medical care.

"Two juvenile males, who were in the same car, some type of argument happened, and one juvenile shot the other multiple times," said Lt. Jenn Diederich. The boys were sitting in a parked car when the argument and shooting occurred.

The victim was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition, and he is expected to survive his injuries. Diederich wasn't sure the ages of the boys, and police were not yet releasing details about the nature of the victim's injuries.

"There was nothing life-threatening about the shots as far as we know," Diederich said.

The suspected shooter ran from the car, and police were still searching for him, as well as the gun used in the shooting, at press time Saturday night.

"We think we know who the suspect is, but we have not arrested him yet," she said. "We haven't found him yet."

Editor’s note: A previous version of this article said the police were called to a residence in Glendale. The article has since been updated to say they went to a residence in Rose Park.
