COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — London police are asking for images taken during the terrorist attack in Sri Lanka. Police said Tuesday that counter-terrorism police want to look at any images and footage taken before, during or after the bombings. The Metropolitan Police dispatched a small team of specialist officers from the Counter Terrorism Command to Sri Lanka to support families who lost loved ones and to help with repatriation of their remains. Police also asked that witnesses contact police on a confidential basis
NEW YORK (AP) — Lawyers across the U.S. are recruiting clients for a potentially crippling new wave of sexual abuse lawsuits against the Boy Scouts. Past payouts have already seriously strained the organization's finances, and it hasn't ruled out filing for bankruptcy. Now the threat is increasing because a number of states are moving to create a longer new legal window so that victims of long-ago abuse can sue.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court's conservative majority appears ready to uphold the Trump administration's plan to ask about citizenship on the 2020 census, despite evidence that millions of Hispanics and immigrants could go uncounted. Three lower courts have so far blocked the plan to ask every U.S. resident about citizenship in the census, finding that the question would discourage many immigrants from being counted. But on Tuesday, the conservative justices did not appear to share that concern.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Vice President Joe Biden will launch his 2020 presidential campaign on Thursday, according to a person familiar with his plans. The 76-year-old Democrat is scheduled to face voters in Pittsburgh on Monday, the person said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to disclose private conversations. Biden's decision answers the final major question of the early 2020 Democratic primary season, which now has more than 20 candidates. He would enter the race as a front-runner
UNDATED (AP) — The S&P 500 closed at an all-time high Tuesday, marking the stock market's recovery from a nosedive at the end of last year. The benchmark index's previous record was set last September, shortly before the market sank in the fourth quarter amid fears of a recession, an escalating trade war between the U.S. and China, and concern the Federal Reserve was moving too aggressively to raise interest rates. Those concerns have eased or taken a back seat to more optimism among investors this year.
