SUNSET — A 17-year-old boy died after being struck by a FrontRunner train Monday afternoon, Utah Transit Authority officials said.

Crews were alerted that someone had been hit by a train near 498 W. 1300 North before 3 p.m., UTA spokesman Carl Arky said. He said it appears the teen intentionally stepped in front of the train.

The teen's name was not released. Arky said the train operator will be offered counseling or any medical care required.

FrontRunner trains were stopped at Clearfield and Roy stations after the incident and a bus bridge was set up to connect riders to each station, Arky said. The train involved was moved from the scene about 4 p.m.

UTA tweeted riders should expect delays on both northbound and southbound FrontRunner trains. All trains had returned to full service by Monday evening.
