ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The cream of women's basketball has risen to the top. For the fourth time since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams, all the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds advanced to the regional finals. It last happened in 2012 when Baylor won the national championship. The Lady Bears are in position to reach their first Final Four since that season when they face second-seeded Iowa on Monday night. Notre Dame, which Baylor beat for the title that season, will play Stanford in the other Elite Eight game Monday.
UNDATED (AP) — Virginia and Texas Tech breaking long droughts gives next week's Final Four a different feel. The Cavaliers knocked off Purdue in overtime to reach the Final Four for the first time since 1984. Texas Tech is in the Final Four for the first time after shutting down Gonzaga.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Texas Tech is heading to its first Final Four thanks to a kid from Italy who made the big shots and a defense that refuses to rest. Davide Moretti opened up a late lead with the two most important 3-pointers of his life, Tariq Owens came up with a big rejection and the Red Raiders caught a ride straight to Minneapolis with a 75-69 victory over top-seeded Gonzaga.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The final buzzer sounded and Davide Moretti sprinted to find his family in the stands. With his Texas Tech teammates celebrating on the court, Moretti shared an embrace with his father, mother and younger brother, who surprised him earlier in the week after traveling from Italy.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Tyler Herro's swagger might be off-putting to opposing fans, but he gives Kentucky fans every reason to love him. He was voted AP newcomer of the year in the Southeastern Conference and has knocked down too many big shots to count late in games. He's expected to play a big role again when the Wildcats face Auburn in the NCAA Midwest Region final.
CHICAGO (AP) — Arike Ogunbowale scored a career-high 34 points, Jessica Shepard added 24 points and 14 rebounds, and defending national champion Notre Dame beat Texas A&M 87-80. It was the second straight year the Fighting Irish eliminated the Aggies in the Sweet 16 of the women's NCAA Tournament. Ogunbowale scored 12 in the final 6:45 to help top-seeded Notre Dame advance to the Elite Eight for the eighth time in nine years.
UNDATED (AP) — Virginia is heading to the Final Four for the first time since 1984. Kyle Guy had 25 points and 10 rebounds as the top-seeded Cavaliers withstood a brilliant performance from Purdue's Carsen Edwards and beat the third-seeded Boilermakers 80-75 in overtime.
