SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A U.S. District Court judge in Utah judge has ruled in favor of an environmental lawsuit targeting companies operated by a star of the "Diesel Brothers" television show.
The Standard-Examiner reported Wednesday that the Diesel Power Gear, 4x4 Anything and B&W Motors companies are subject to civil penalties under the federal Clean Air Act for sales of trucks with "defeat" devices that block vehicle pollution controls.
The defendants include "Diesel Brothers" star David Sparks, chief operating and financial officer Joshua Stuart and modified truck marketer Keaton Hoskins.
Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment filed the suit in January 2017 after seeing vehicles spewing black smoke on the Discovery Channel reality show.
An attorney for the companies calls it a narrow ruling on a small number of trucks.
