SALT LAKE CITY —It's time to celebrate National Pi Day. The holiday, which falls on March 14, is meant for celebrating the infinite number meant to measure the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, but it’s also become tradition to celebrate with the pie you can eat.

Pi Day has been officially celebrated since 2009 when the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution designating the holiday around the world to engage students with mathematics and science. It also happens to be famous physicist Albert Einstein’s birthday.

Whether you truly enjoy mathematics science, Einstein or you just want to eat pie, Utah will have tons of great deals on both sweet and savory pies and entertainment.

Marie Calendar’s

It can be hard to go to Marie Calendar’s and leave without some pie. The popular chain restaurant is serving up free slices to customers on March 14.

As long as it isn’t a cheesecake or a seasonal fresh fruit pie, you can use this coupon offered on its website to get your slice of pie.

The restaurant also offers free pie slices on Mondays. It features a new pie every month and this month there are two lemon pies; one is called “Lip-Smackin Lemon Meringue Pie" and the other is called “Luscious Lemon Cake Pie.”

There are two locations in Utah: 1109 E. 3900 South in Salt Lake City, and in Layton at 1600 N. 1000 West. For its menu and hours, click here.

They are offering a slice of pie for $2.00 for National Pi Day, and if one slice isn’t sufficient, they sell whole pies for $17.00.

Penny Ann’s now has three locations: in Salt Lake City at 1810 S. Main St., in Draper at 280 E. 12300 South, and in Taylorsville at 1856 W. 5400 South.
