COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — Linebacker Denzel Perryman signed a two-year deal Saturday to remain with the Los Angeles Charger.

Perryman was a second-round selection by the Chargers in 2015 and has started 35 of the 42 games he has played. He is one of the team's best defenders when it comes to stopping the run, but has missed 20 games the past three seasons due to injuries.

The 5-foot-11, 240-pound Perryman started the first nine games of last season and led the team in tackles before suffering a season-ending knee injury at Oakland on Nov. 11. He finished the season with 64 tackles and an interception.

Perryman has 226 tackles in four seasons with four sacks, two interceptions and 18 tackles for loss.
