MIAMI (AP) — Golden State's lead in the Western Conference is down to a half-game over Denver, after the two-time NBA champs fell to the Miami Heat last night. Dwyane Wade hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer off the glass as time expired to defeat the Warriors 126-125. Wade scored 25 points for the Heat, which snapped a six-game home losing streak. Miami is tied for ninth in the Eastern Conference but just a half-game behind the Southeast Division-leading Charlotte Hornets.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Danny Farquhar is ready to pitch in a game for the first time since collapsing in the Chicago White Sox dugout last April 20 because of a ruptured aneurysm and brain hemorrhage. Farquhar pitched his second simulated game of spring training yesterday, and says he's "ready for a real game." He's scheduled to pitch this weekend against Pittsburgh.

Management backed off its desire for a pitch clock this year, putting off most on-field changes to at least 2020. People familiar with the negotiations say the biggest alterations discussed for this year are a single trade deadline and lowering the number of mound visits without a pitching change.

It's aimed at changing how offensive and defensive linemen engage in contact when the ball is snapped. Also changing in September: no kickoffs at the Pee Wee level.
