SALT LAKE CITY — A head-on collision at the crest of the 1300 South overpass in Salt Lake City sent four people to the hospital early Monday morning, officials said.

A vehicle with four occupants was eastbound when it crashed head-on with another vehicle carrying a single person heading the opposite way about 6 a.m., according to Salt Lake police detective Jess Perea.

All of the people involved in the crash except one were transported to local hospitals, Perea said. Two of the victims are in fair condition, and the other two are in serious condition, authorities said.

It's amazing so many escaped the crash alive, Perea added.
