MAGNA — A man in his 60s was hit by an SUV and taken to the hospital in critical condition on Wednesday, officials said.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. near 8950 W. Magna Main St., Unified police officials told KSL. A witness told police that the man was waving his hands in an effort to indicate his presence to the SUV prior to the collision. The man was found near a crosswalk, but police aren’t positive that was where he was crossing when he was hit, officials said.
"There's a crosswalk close," said Unified Police Lt. Bill Robertson. "We don't know if he was in it or just outside of it. We've called our critical reconstruction team ... and they're going to start the investigation (and) try to work through some of those things."
The SUV stopped after the accident and the driver, who was not found to have any immediate signs of impairment or criminal intent, has cooperated with the police as they investigate the incident further, officials said.
The injured man's identity was not immediately available.
Authorities will follow up with businesses once they reopen in the morning to see if any surveillance video is available.
