SALT LAKE CITY — A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the leg in Taylorsville Thursday night, police say.

Shortly before midnight, officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex on Putters Circle, next to Meadow Brook Golf Course on the Meadowbrook Expressway and 1300 West, according to Unified police Lt. Manfred Lassig.

A person in a car shot a 19-year-old male victim in the leg, Manfred said. A neighbor started first aid on the victim and when police arrived, they put a tourniquet on the victim's leg, he said.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition but is expected to survive.

Police believe the incident is possibly gang-related, Manfred said. Investigators do not have a description of the suspect but are searching for a gold-colored vehicle, possibly a Cadillac. Anyone with information is asked to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
