ST. GEORGE — Police are responding to an "ever-evolving" situation. It stemmed from what they say was a road rage incident in which shots were fired Saturday evening.
The incident started with a “dispute between two drivers of two different vehicles,” according to St. George police officer Tiffany Atkin.
One of the drivers “shot and hit another vehicle,” she said, though no injuries have been reported.
Authorities said to avoid the area where they are responding, but declined to specify an address or area.
Police were in contact with one of the occupants of the car from which shots were fired, and were “dealing with some other possible suspects at another address,” Atkin told KSL about 10 p.m.
Atkin described the incident as “ever-evolving” and said the scene was not safe.
A SWAT team was called in and was preparing to enter a residence where one of the involved parties was located late Saturday evening, the St. George News reported.
One person who may have been involved was detained and was "being questioned by police near the scene," the St. George News also reported.
Further details about the occupants in either vehicle, including their ages, gender or how many were or are in each vehicle, were not immediately available.
As of 11:40 p.m., police had not released updated information to KSL.
