NIAGARA, N.Y. (AP) — Keleaf Tate made a 3-pointer with one second remaining and Niagara defeated Cornell 77-74 on Sunday despite trailing most of the second half.

Cornell's Matt Morgan made two free throws to tie it at 74 with 10 seconds remaining and set up the exciting finish. After Niagara's Marvin Prochet missed a 3-pointer with three seconds left, Dominic Robb grabbed the offensive rebound and passed to Tate who drained the game-winner. Morgan missed a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Tate scored 23 points, making 5 of 11 3-pointers. Prochet scored 24, making 5 of 8 3-pointers. The rest of the Golden Eagles (5-4) were 0 for 5 from distance.

Morgan, a first-team All-Ivy League selection last season, led the Big Red (4-5) with 22 points and Josh Warren scored 20.

Cornell led 67-59 with 7:07 remaining before Niagara began to chip away at the lead. The Purple Eagles regained the lead at 71-70 with 1:20 remaining. Tate's game-winner was the only made field goal in the final minute.
