EAST RUTHERFORD, N. J. (AP) — New York Giants star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will miss his second straight game with a quad injury. Coach Pat Shurmur says the NFL's highest-paid receiver won't play Sunday against the Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium. Beckham missed last week's game against Washington. Beckham was hurt on the final play of the Giants' loss to the Eagles in Philadelphia on Nov. 25. He played against Chicago the following week.
ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Oakland Raiders receiver Martavis Bryant has been suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL policy on substance abuse. The NFL says Bryant has violated the terms of his conditional reinstatement in April 2017 and has been placed back on the suspended list for an indefinite period of time. Bryant is currently on injured reserve with a knee injury. He is in the final year of his contract and eligible for free agency next year.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Former star Atlanta Falcons lineman Bill Fralic has died at 56. He was a three-time All-American offensive lineman at Pittsburgh. The university says he had cancer and died at his home in suburban Atlanta. Fralic was the second overall pick in the 1985 draft and spent nine seasons in the league. He was named to the Pro Bowl four times and earned All-Pro honors in 1986 and 1987. He was a radio analyst for Pitt and the Falcons after retirement.
UNDATED (AP) — A person with direct knowledge of the situation says catcher James McCann has agreed to a $2.5 million, one-year contract with the Chicago White Sox. The 28-year-old McCann hit .220 with eight homers and 39 RBIs in 118 games last season with Detroit. McCann was selected by the White Sox in the 31st round of the 2008 draft, but he decided to go to the University of Arkansas instead. He then was drafted by the Tigers in 2011.
BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have hired Brandon Hyde to be their new manager, hoping his experience as Cubs bench coach will help the team move forward while in rebuilding mode. Hyde takes over for Buck Showalter, who was fired after Baltimore finished 47-115 — the worst record in the majors. This will be Hyde's first stint as a major league manager. General manager Mike Elias says Hyde is "the ideal leader for the next era of Orioles baseball."
