UNDATED (AP) — There are nine championship games in college football on Saturday. The day kicks off with two midday games in the Big 12 and Sun Belt and the final two games of the day will settle the title in the Big Ten and ACC. Some of the games could impact the four-team playoff field that will be announced Sunday. No. 5 Oklahoma and No. 6 Ohio State need to win and both hope top-ranked Alabama beats No. 4 Georgia, too. The Sooners faces Texas and Ohio State will play Northwestern.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas players knew when they celebrated their win over Oklahoma back in October that they could see the Sooners again. They play again Saturday for the Big 12 championship in a rare Red River rematch. That is the only loss for fifth-ranked Oklahoma. The Sooners will try to win their fourth Big 12 title in a row and get to the College Football Playoff again. Ninth-ranked Texas won its last Big 12 title in 2009.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Carlik Jones made a spinning layup in the lane and a free throw with 24.5 seconds left,6-1, sending Radford to a 62-59 upset of No. 17 Texas. Devin Hutchison made one of two free throws with 11 seconds left before Texas' Jase Febres missed a 3-pointer to tie and Radford rebounded to end the game. It was Radford's first win over a ranked opponent in program history It was also the second big road win for Radford which beat Notre Dame earlier this season.
UNDATED (AP) — College football closes its regular season with championship weekend, leading to selection Sunday when the playoff is set and the bowls are matchups are finalized. This is the first season in FBS where each of the 10 conferences has a championship game, but as a bonus there are some regular-season games sprinkled in to the slate. No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Georgia in the SEC title game highlight the slate along with Kyler Murray and No. 5 Oklahoma vs. No. 9 Texas in the Big 12 title game
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Jordan Murphy scored a season-high 24 points to lead five players in double figures, and he added 16 rebounds to lead Minnesota to an 83-76 win against Oklahoma State as part of the U.S. Bank Stadium Basketball Classic. Gabe Kalscheur scored 14 points, hitting three 3-pointers in the second half for Minnesota (6-1), which overcame its first loss of the season at Boston College. Isaiah Washington added 15 points for the Gophers.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Desmond Bane scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Alex Robinson added 11 points and 12 assists, leading TCU to an 89-62 defeat of Central Michigan. It was the Horned Frogs' (5-1) second win in a row after a surprise loss at home to Lipscomb knocked them out of the AP Top 25.
