POWER COUNTY, Idaho — A Utah man was killed after crashing into a potato hauler Saturday evening on Interstate 86 near the Arbon Valley exit.

EastIdahoNews.com reports Dean Rottini, 57, of Tooele, was rushed to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello around 8:30 p.m. where he later died, according to Idaho State Police.

Rottini was driving a 2004 Audi TT coupe west on the interstate near milepost 53. Police say Christian Saldana, 21, of American Falls, was also driving west in a 2012 Peterbuilt potato hauler.

Investigators say Rottini’s vehicle collided with the back of the potato hauler before both vehicles came to a stop on the right shoulder of the road.

Rottini was not wearing a seatbelt, according to investigators. Saldana was wearing a seatbelt and did not need to be transported to the hospital.
