GRANTSVILLE — One person died and four others were injured in a rollover crash on I-80 in Tooele County Sunday morning, officials said.
A Lexus with five people inside was westbound on I-80 at what troopers described as a high rate of speed around 5 a.m., when it veered into the center median and rolled multiple times, according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol.
Three of the car's occupants were ejected, investigators believe. One of them — a female — died at the scene, the UHP statement said. Information about her, including her name, has not yet been released pending notification of family.
All the other people involved in the crash were taken to local hospitals, according to UHP. Their conditions were not reported.
Investigators believe all the people in the car were teens or young adults. They also suspect alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
