SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police have identified the 66-year-old woman who died early Tuesday morning after being hit by a car.

Carol Lee Hambleton, of Taylorsville, died in the crash, which took place about 6 a.m. near the intersection of 700 East and 3300 South, according to South Salt Lake police Executive Officer Gary Keller.

Hambleton had been walking her bicycle in a crosswalk on 700 East when a car heading south hit her, Keller said Tuesday.

She was wearing dark clothing and it was dark in the area, he said. Hambleton died of her injuries after being transported to a hospital. The driver was being cooperative with police, he added.
