SALT LAKE CITY — A new fire that sparked along I-15 near Cedar City Sunday evening forced the temporary closure of the right northbound lane, officials said on Twitter.

The lane reopened shortly before 8 p.m. and the fire was out by 8:30 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol trooper Dan Nielson.

Details such as the size or cause of the fire were not immediately available.

In Juab County, the lightning-caused Pole Creek Fire that started Thursday burned approximately half an acre Sunday evening.

Fire officials said smoke and flames may be visible from the Mount Nebo Scenic Byway and Devil's Kitchen in the Nebo Loop. They are asking the public not to report it to officials as they are already aware.
