PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia hotel has agreed to host sensitivity training sessions for its employees after a racial slur was found on paperwork given to an attendee of the Japanese American Citizens League conference last week.
The League posted on its Facebook page that an employee had written the slur on the checkout packet for one of its attendees. The organization's executive director told the Philly Voice that a hotel official said the word was used as shorthand by an employee who had not realized it was a slur.
In its statement about the incident, Sheraton says it is investigating and will take appropriate action including the training.
Earlier this year Starbucks underwent company-wide racial bias training after a manager called police on two black men waiting to meet a friend.
