BUHL, Idaho — Police say a Buhl man clogged his toilet when he tried to flush the marijuana plants he was growing.

Ethan Allen Compton, 25, now faces charges of manufacturing a controlled substance, destruction of evidence, felony possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled weapon by a felon, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana, Times-News reported.

Buhl police went to Compton’s house Tuesday after probation officers said they found marijuana plants growing there, according to an affidavit. The probation officers said Compton told them he had tried to flush some of the plants down the toilet, clogging it.

Officers had to remove the toilet from the bathroom and take it outside in order to unclog it and get the plants out, police said.

A search of Compton’s room turned up six pots filled with marijuana plants, a glass pipe with meth in it, and some unidentified pills, according to the affidavit. As officers were searching the room, they noticed Compton’s cellphone light up with a text message about selling narcotics.

Police asked Compton if they could look through his phone; while scrolling through, they reportedly found photos of Compton standing next to the marijuana plants in his house and licking them.

Officers also found a marijuana leaf in a picture frame in the living room, according to the affidavit. Police said that when they asked Compton about the framed leaf, he replied: “I love my marijuana.”

Various drug paraphernalia, plants suspected to be marijuana, and a .22 AR rifle were also discovered in the house, police said.

Compton was arraigned Wednesday and jailed on a $30,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 27.
