SALT LAKE CITY — I-80 westbound reopened after a semitruck fire closed it from Foothill Drive to 2800 East in Salt Lake City Monday morning, according to the KSL Traffic Center.
Traffic was being detoured onto I-215.
A semitruck carrying ice cream caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames around midnight, according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol. The crash shut down the freeway collector at Foothill Boulevard. No injuries were reported.

Utah Department of Transportation crews worked for hours to repair the road. Traffic backup stretches for about 5 miles.
Investigators believe the fire started in the truck's brakes.
