ST. GEORGE — Police identified a 23-year-old man on Tuesday who died after investigators said a conversation between friends "became heated" and led to a stabbing Thursday night.
Police said Luwing Leonardo Lopez died from wounds suffered in the stabbing. Victor Manuel Hernandez, 21, was charged with murder in 5th District Court Monday in connection with the stabbing death.
Lopez and Hernandez were visiting a home located on the 2000 block of 1575 North and having a conversation about 6 p.m. Thursday, police said. At some point, the conversation "became heated" and police said Hernandez stabbed Lopez multiple times.
A person in the home called police about what they believed was a violent incident, but they didn't know exactly what had happened. Responding officers found Lopez dead inside the home. After interviews and collecting evidence at the scene, police said they arrested Hernandez.
Court records show Hernandez has no previous criminal history in the state. Records show he is expected to make his first appearance in court Tuesday.
