NEPHI — A woman has been arrested following a high-speed police chase that spanned 88 miles along I-15 in central Utah.
A white four-door sedan was traveling south on I-15 near Nephi Friday evening when it was clocked going over 100 mph, according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol. Troopers attempted to stop the car but said the driver refused to pull over.
The chase continued on southbound I-15 for 88 miles, reaching speeds over 100 mph, and ended near I-70 when troopers were able to spike the car’s tires, UHP officials said.
“(Spiking the tires) caused the vehicle to slow down, allowing the troopers to perform PIT maneuver, bringing the pursuit to a safe ending,” the UHP statement says.
The woman driving the car was taken into custody, and UHP officials said they're still trying to determine why she fled. They have not yet released the woman's identity.
