PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Police say a second person has died of injuries after an SUV slammed into the rear of an empty school bus last week in southeast Michigan.

Michigan State Police said in a statement Tuesday that 28-year-old Antoinette Butler of Ypsilanti, who was a passenger in the SUV, died Friday.

Police earlier said that 42-year-old tow truck driver Nader Chehadi of Ypsilanti was killed as he tended to the broken down bus on May 29 along Interstate 94 in Pittsfield Township, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) southwest of Detroit.

State police said the SUV's driver and two children from the SUV remain hospitalized. A third child from the SUV is out of the hospital.

Police say the tow truck driver was behind the school bus. No students were on the bus.
