VERNAL — Evacuations and road closures have been lifted after a wildfire burned 26 acres in an area northwest of Vernal, officials said.
The Dry Fork Fire began burning about 3 p.m. Friday near the Red Cloud Loop, a trail in the Uinta Mountains.
Evacuations were ordered for homes, farms and ranches along the Dry Fork Settlement Road, according to Kelsey Birchell, public information officer for the Bureau of Land Management fire division in Vernal.
Just after 2 p.m. Saturday, Utah Fire Information officials said those evacuations had been lifted. No structures were damaged, but one flat bed trailer did have some light damage, officials said.
Officials initially estimated the fire had burned 60 acres, but on Saturday they said it had burned 26.4 acres. It was not likely to gain any more acreage, officials said.
