TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Courtney Force topped Funny Car qualifying Friday night in the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals at Heartland Motorsports Park.
Force had a 3.911-second run at 321.73 mph her Chevrolet Camaro SS during the second qualifying session of the day. The season points leader is chasing her fifth No. 1 qualifier of the year and third in a row.
"We had a decent run in the first qualifying round but I knew we had more with this crew tuning my car and we were able to get that top spot back," Force said. "It's definitely a big deal to be running consistently, but there are still plenty of runs tomorrow where we will have to hold onto that number one position."
Steve Torrence led in Top Fuel, and Erica Enders was the fastest in Pro Stock. Torrence had a 3.770 at 325.92, and Enders ran a 6.625 at 207.59 in a Camaro.
