DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Duke has reinstated specialist Austin Parker to the football team, five months after he was kicked off the team.

Coach David Cutcliffe announced Parker's reinstatement Wednesday, saying the kicker-punter regained the trust of the coaching staff.

Parker was dismissed from the team before the Quick Lane Bowl in December after he was suspended from school for violating unspecified university academic policy. He has been readmitted to Duke and began summer school Wednesday.

Cutcliffe says Parker "displayed humility and wisdom while, through his actions, regaining our trust" through the process.

Parker made 17 of 21 field goals and 33 of 35 extra-point attempts in 2017 for the Blue Devils. He also averaged 42 yards per punt while placing 10 of his 61 punts inside the 20-yard line.
