SARATOGA SPRINGS — One woman died and eight others were injured in a crash early Sunday morning, officials said.
The two-car crash took place about 12:35 a.m. near the intersection of Pioneer Crossing and Redwood Road, according to Saratoga Springs City Spokesman David Johnson.
Johnson said a sedan was driving south on Redwood Road and was attempting to turn left when it collided with an SUV, which was heading north. He did not provide further details about the circumstances of the crash.
Six people, including the woman who died, were in the sedan and three people were in the SUV when the crash took place, Johnson said. At least five of the people in the sedan were taken to the hospital with injuries from the crash, he said.
The crash was still under investigation as of 7:30 a.m. Sunday, and officials were waiting for the accident report to release further details, Johnson said.
Editor's note: Officials initially said eight people were taken to the hospital, but only five were transported. This story has been updated to reflect that clarification.
