SALT LAKE CITY — A suspicious backpack dropped outside a downtown building prompted a bomb squad response Friday night.
It turned out that the backpack contained a sleep apnea machine, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Mark Buhman.
A security guard reported that a man dropped the backpack outside the KUTV building at 299 Main St., Buhman said.
A bomb squad arrived about 9:15 p.m. and worked to “disrupt” the pack until about 2 a.m., when they verified that it did not contain any explosives, Buhman said.
There were no evacuations due to the situation, and police are not seeking any suspects as of Saturday morning, Buhman said.
