Officials: 67-year-old man dies after fight at Uintah County home

PELICAN LAKE, Uintah County — Officials are investigating after an altercation led to the death of a man took place at a home near Pelican Lake on Friday.

The altercation happened just after 1 p.m. near 16177 E. 4500 South, according to a post on the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

A 46-year-old man, who was living on the property of the man who died, got into an argument with a 67-year-old man. The argument got physical and the 67-year-old died, officials said.

At some point, one of the men took out a handgun, but no shots were fired during the fight, sheriff’s officials said.

The 46-year-old man was cooperating with law enforcement officials but had not been charged as of Friday evening.

Officials did not release any other details about the fight, nor did they identify either of the men. The investigation was ongoing as of Friday night, the sheriff’s office said.
