NEW YORK (AP) — The mother of a Democratic National Committee employee killed in 2016 says her son was "murdered again" because of a retracted Fox News article.
Joel and Mary Rich allege in a lawsuit that Fox, a reporter and a guest commentator used "lies" and "misrepresentations" in a May 2017 article that claimed Seth Rich had leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks during the presidential campaign.
The network removed the story, saying it was not initially subjected to its "high degree of editorial scrutiny."
Mary Rich tells ABC News that her son "would never have done it."
She says that in a resulting "explosion of hell...your son is murdered again" and "it's worse than the first time."
Police believe Seth Rich was killed in a robbery attempt.
Fox News has declined comment.
