ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Christian Terrell, Max Heidigger and Gabe Vincent scored 12 points apiece to help UC Santa Barbara beat Cal Poly 75-53 on Thursday night in the Big West Conference Tournament.
Second-seeded UCSB (23-8), which also beat the Mustangs 86-61 on Saturday night in the regular-season finale, will play No. 3 seed UC Irvine in the semifinals on Friday.
Vincent and Heidigger each hit a 3 in the first 56 seconds and UCSB never trailed. After Ami Lakoju scored six straight points to give the Gauchos a 19-8 lead, Cal Poly's Victor Joseph hit a jumper but Heidigger answered with back-to-back 3s and the Mustangs went more than 10½ minutes before making another field goal. UCSB took a 45-18 lead into the break and cruised from there.
No. 7 seed Cal Poly (9-21) made just five field goals and shot 23.8 percent before the break — season lows for a half.
Joseph led the Mustangs with 13 points.
