OREM — Police arrested a 19-year-old Orem man early Sunday morning after he allegedly poured gasoline in his neighbor’s shed and then broke into his sister’s home while intoxicated.

Leonardo Barajas fled when his neighbors found him in the shed pouring lawn mower fuel, according to Utah County Jail records. The couple recognized Barajas and told police that the man’s sister lived just down the street.

Barajas’ sister reported a burglary at her house shortly after when she found a window broken and a big screen TV and fireplace pushed over onto the floor, according to jail records. Police also found notes on her desk and whiteboard with Barajas’ name signed to all of them.

Police found Barajas at home with a blood alcohol level of .084 percent and took him into custody soon after, according to Orem Police Lt. Craig Martinez. He was transported to Timpanogos Hospital for a medical clearance.

Barajas told police he couldn’t remember everything that happened because he drank five shots of whiskey that night, jail records state.

Barajas said he remembers entering his sister’s home and writing on her belongings but does not remember breaking the window or the TV. Barajas told police he also remembers entering his neighbor’s shed and trying to pour gasoline in the lawn mower but does not remember seeing the homeowners.

Bajaras was booked into the Utah County Jail, and Martinez said Bajaras could be charged with two counts of burglary, as well as unlawful consumption and possession of alcohol by an adult minor.
