SALT LAKE CITY — Eastbound I-80 was temporarily closed near the mouth of Parleys Canyon after two vehicles were involved in separate crashes Monday night, UHP officials said.

The crashes happened shortly before 10 p.m. near the southbound I-215 East Belt. Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Todd Royce said when the vehicles hit a patch of black ice, the drivers lost control.

One vehicle rolled over, Royce said, and the other rear-ended a semitruck as the truck slowed down. The two drivers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, he said.

Snow plows from the Utah Department of Transportation were on their way to go to salt the area, Royce said. The road was later reopened just before 11 p.m.
