PROVO — An American Fork man who left Eagle Mountain residents uneasy after they said he was camping out in a ravine between their homes and a golf course last year was found guilty on seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in a separate case Friday.

A jury found Philip Boswell Case, 48, guilty on all second-degree felony counts in 4th District Court. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 9, according to court records. Second-degree felony sentences typically extend from one to 15 years, according to court sentencing guidelines.

Case was arrested and charged in connection with that investigation in 2015 after a woman alerted authorities in December 2013 that she and her husband bought a hard drive online and later discovered it contained child pornography, according to court documents.

Utah Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force agents responded to the home and found multiple images of child pornography on the drive. Investigators later found out it was previously owned by Case, who admitted to authorities he sold the hard drive online, according to court records.

More child pornography images were found on a laptop he owned during a search of his home in June 2014, the affidavit added. Case was charged in 4th District Court in February 2015.

Case made headlines in July 2017 while the trial was ongoing. Eagle Mountain residents said a man, later identified as Case, was camping in a ravine near their homes. One resident claimed he was taking photos with the camera pointed at their home, though Case told authorities he was taking photos of wildlife in the area.

Court records show he was charged with criminal trespassing, a class B misdemeanor on July 31, 2017. That case remains ongoing.
