PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Andre Spight scored 37 points on 15-of-24 shooting to help Northern Colorado beat Portland State 85-78 on Thursday night.

Jordan Davis added 17 points, five assists and two steals for the Bears. Northern Colorado (20-10, 11-6 Big Sky) has won four in a row and six of its last seven.

Michael Mayhew hit a 3-pointer to give Portland State (18-12, 8-9) its only lead at 54-53 about five minutes into the second half. Spight scored six points in an 11-2 run and, after back-to-back baskets pulled the Vikings within four, Northern Colorado scored nine in a row to make it 73-60 with eight minutes to play.

PSU scored 18 of the next 24 points to trim its deficit to 79-78 when Derek Brown hit a 3 with 1:59 left, but the Bears closed on a 6-0 to seal it. Portland State went 0 for 2 from the free-throw line, 0 for 1 from the field and committed a turnover in the final 90 seconds.

Ryan Edwards led the Vikings with 19 points and seven rebounds.
