Cokley helps UAB in romp past Marshall 91-77

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Chris Cokley scored 23 points, William Lee added 15 and pulled down 14 rebounds and UAB romped past Marshall 91-77 on Thursday night, playing its first home game since February 10.

The Blazers (18-12, 9-8 Conference USA) controlled the boards 51-31, dominated the paint 44-26 and outscored Marshall 19-11 on second-chance points.

UAB opened the scoring on a Cokley jumper and led by as many as 12 before Marshall fought back with a 22-11 run and a 32-31 lead late in the first half. Jalen Perry hit a 3-pointer and UAB took the lead right back.

Marshall tied the game for a third time, 44-44, on a Jarrod West bucket with 18 minutes left. Cokley scored 12 points in the next 8:30, sparking a 31-14 run with a pair of free throws and ending it with a 3-pointer for a 75-56 lead.

Jon Elmore scored 28 points to lead Marshall (20-10, 11-6) and Darius George added 17.
