BEIJING, Sep 1, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- More than 40 percent of respondents to a Chinese reading habits survey say they have no time to read books.
Some 84.1 percent of those surveyed said reading books has become more important, but that's the lowest level in seven years, the news service Xinhua reported.
While fewer people are reading books, the survey found a 40 percent hike in those who prefer to read on-line. Magazine reading also is escalating in China.
More than 8,070 respondents took part in the survey.
