FARMINGTON — Two people were critically injured after a crash in Farmington Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

A man in his early 90s was driving south in the northbound lanes of Legacy Parkway and crashed head-on into another vehicle near the Glovers Lane intersection about 1:15 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Todd Royce. The elderly man and a passenger in the other car were in critical condition, he said.

The driver of the other car also had very serious injuries, Royce said. The elderly man was the only person in the car that was driving the wrong way, he added.

A medical helicopter was heading to the scene and at least one person was being extricated, South Davis Metro Fire officials said on Twitter.

Northbound Legacy Parkway was temporarily closed at the Parrish Lane intersection, but one lane was reopened about 3 p.m. The second lane was reopened later in the evening.
