SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Jalen McDaniels scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead San Diego State to a 71-59 win over San Jose State on Saturday night.

McDaniels hit all 10 of his free throw attempts and was 3 for 7 from the field. Max Montana added 15 points, all from 3-point range, Matt Mitchell had 12 points and Devin Watson 10 for San Diego State (17-10, 9-7 Mountain West Conference).

Midway through the second half, San Jose State (3-24, 0-16) pulled to within a bucket, 45-43, on a pair of free throws from Keith Fisher III but it was as close as the Spartans got.

The Aztecs, who never trailed, quickly retook control with an 11-2 run capped with one of Montana's 3-pointers and later stretched the advantage to double figures for good with a dunk from McDaniels to make it 62-52 with four minutes remaining. It was San Diego State's fourth-straight win.

Fisher led the Spartans with 21 points and Jaycee Hillsman had 10 points with seven rebounds and five assists.
