TOOELE — A man critically injured in a rollover crash Sunday died from his injuries Monday, police said.

Lincoln Powers, 19, of Tooele, was pronounced dead at a hospital, said Tooele Police Sgt. Tanya Kalma.

Police responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of 400 North and 7th Street about 10 a.m. Sunday, according to Tooele Police Sgt. Chris Thompson. Thompson said Powers was driving a Ford Escape that rolled over, ejecting him.

Kalma added the vehicle also struck a power pole, which caused the lines to fall.

Powers, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was pulled safely away from the power lines by bystanders and police officers, who rendered aid to the man, Kalma said. He was then flown to a Salt Lake hospital, where he later died.

Powers played football at Tooele High School. Several of the school's sports teams honored him on social media Monday night.

“He was as great a kid off the field as much as he was an athlete on it,” posted the school’s boys soccer team.

A GoFundMe page* was set up Monday to help Powers’ family pay for expenses. Many on the site expressed their condolences for his passing.

“He was always so sweet whenever I would see him or have him at my home,” one person wrote.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
