BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Guillermo Garcia-Lopez beat second-seeded Spanish countryman Pablo Carreno Busta 7-6 (5), 1-6, 7-6 (6) on Thursday to reach the Argentina Open quarterfinals.
Garcia-Lopez will face Argentina's Federico Delbonis, a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6) winner over Portugal's Gastao Elias in the clay-court event.
France's Gael Monfils and Argentina's Leonardo Mayer set up another quarterfinal. Monfils beat Dusan Lajovic of Serbia 6-4, 6-3, and Mayer stopped fourth-seeded Fabio Fognini of Italy 6-3, 6-3.
The other quarterfinals were set Wednesday, with top-seeded Dominic Thiem of Austria set to face Guido Pella of Argentina, and Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene to play Argentina's Diego Schwartzman.
