SOUTH SALT LAKE — Multiple agencies responded to a field fire Wednesday evening on the Jordan River Parkway Trail, officials said.
At least seven units were on the scene near the Jordan River Parkway Trail from 3900 South to 4500 South, according to Unified Fire Authority spokesman Matt McFarlane.
A homeless camp had been evacuated in the area, McFarlane said. There are some apartments behind the fire area that are protected and far away, but could become threatened, he said.
Just before 8 p.m., the fire was in mop-up phase, with only mild flare-ups remaining, Unified Fire Authority reported on Twitter.
Units were on the scene from Unified Fire Authority, West Valley City fire and South Salt Lake fire.
Propane canisters were being used in the homeless camp, and that will be considered as investigators search for the fire’s cause, McFarlane said.
