Griffin has 22, Iona turns back Saint Peter's 86-77

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — Roland Griffin scored 22 points and Iona heated up in the second half to defeat Saint Peter's 86-77 on Saturday.

E.J. Crawford added 18 points and Zach Lewis and Schadrac Casimir had 15 points apiece for the Gaels (16-10, 10-4 Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference). Rickey McGill had eight points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

Lewis, held scoreless in the first half, hit a 3-pointer and followed with a pair of free throws on the next possession and Crawford completed a 3-point play as the Gaels turned a three-point lead into a 66-55 advantage in less than a minute. Iona kept the lead around 10 the rest of the way.

Iona went 6 of 10 from 3-point range and 17 of 27 overall in the second half.

Davauhnte Turner had 21 points for the Peacocks (10-15, 4-10), with Nick Griffin and Samuel Idowu adding 14 apiece. Idowu had 11 rebounds.
