EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Montell Goodwin scored 21 points and Muusa Dama and Ray Crossland each added 17 and Eastern Illinois converted 10 of 12 from the free throw line in the final 90 seconds to hold off SIU Edwardsville 78-74 on Thursday night.
Eastern Illinois hit its final field goal with 2:52 left to go up 68-55. The Panthers hit 13 of 16 from the line in the second half, 15 of 19 for the game.
Daniel Kinchen hit a 3-pointer to get SIU Edwardsville within four, 70-66 with 1:08 left. DeVantae' Price hit two free throws. The Cougars got within two points twice in the final 10 seconds, but Price and Dama each converted a pair of free throws.
Eastern Illinois (9-15, 5-8 Ohio Valley) was 28 of 49 from the field, including 7 of 16 from distance.
Kinchen finished with 21 points to lead SIU Edwardsville (8-16, 4-9), with Jalen Henry adding 18 points and Keenan Simmons scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 boards.
