ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Joe Cremo scored 23 points and Albany extended UMass-Lowell's losing streak to seven straight with a 70-62 win in an America East game Thursday night.
The Great Danes have won three of their last four games and seven of the last eight meetings with the River Hawks.
Cremo scored a layup and fed Greig Stire for another as the Great Danes closed the first half on a 5-0 run and took a 33-24 lead into intermission. Rinardo Perry's 3 with 4:46 left got UMass-Lowell within two, 57-55, but Cremo answered with a 3 and Albany held the River Hawks at bay from the free-throw line the rest of the way.
Travis Charles had 16 points for Albany (15-6, 3-3), and Stire and David Nichols each added 13.
Jahad Thomas finished with 22 points for UMass-Lowell (6-12, 0-5). Rinardo Perry added 13 points.
