ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Bjorn Broman and Adam Pickett scored 14 points apiece as Winthrop pulled away in the second half to beat High Point 76-60 in the Big South Conference opener on Saturday afternoon.

Anders Broman and Xavier Cooks added 13 points each for the Eagles. Josh Ferguson contributed eight points while grabbing 11 rebounds with two steals and one block.

Winthrop (7-5) held a slim 30-29 halftime advantage. Bjorn Broman nailed a 3-pointer to start the second half that saw the Eagles go up 52-38 following an Anders Broman trey at the 9:53 mark. The Panthers failed to close the gap.

The Eagles shot 50 percent (24-48) from the floor while holding High Point to 20-of-63 (32 percent) shooting. Winthrop also won the rebound battle 43-30.

Andre Fox led High Point (5-7) with 21 points with Jahaad Proctor adding 12.
